We envisioned a default user interface, "Ice and Water" and two theme designs - "Sandy Silence", a zen oasis for peace and "Cosmic Nebula”, a pulsating focus-boosting energy. Each theme is meticulously crafted with a unique 3D element and a tonal palette, aimed to evoke a sense of futuristic luxury intertwined with the tranquility of nature.
They drew parallels to ambiances of calming sunrises, serene forests, and the hushed majesty of deserts. However, they also wished for environments that could combat fatigue and keep them focused on really long or late-night drives.
Instrument Cluster
The layout has been designed such that the speedometer is the largest number, PRNDL and range have equal visual weight and the odometer given the least.
Vehicle Controls
This screen contains vehicle controls such as lighting, headlights, wipers and mirrors. Drive modes are displayed as a dial to allow the driver to select one mode at a time. Tire pressure and trip information are also present on this screen.
App Selector
This has been designed as a singular vertical column as opposed to the traditional grid layout to emphasize the 3D element in the background and create visual focus at the center.
Navigation
This screen displays show the navigation would appear with media being played at the same time.
Media
The 3D element pulsates to beat of the song being played, adding more responsiveness and life from the design. Pulsating movement was designed to be minimal (small amplitude) and slow, so as not to grab attention from the driver's peripheral vision.
HVAC
The HVAC has been given a dedicated third screen for quick and easy access.
Choosing primary and secondary colors only applies to the ambient lighting and not the UI to avoid overwhelming the driver with too many possible combinations and to avoid accessibility issues.
Playlists are generated from drivers' Spotify or Apple Music profiles. Drivers can edit, add, and remove music within the playlists.
Drivers have the option to activate any theme from their mobile phone.
An exploration of how Zen and energy are depicted in nature and architecture.
